ASK THE CATERER YOU ARE CONSIDERING:

A. What are the limits of his liability?
B. Does he have product liability insurance?
C. General liability insurance?
D. Workers Compensation?

A legitimate catering firm carries this coverage to protect not only themselves but you! Ask to see proof of this coverage. Don't take their word.

Not only does Benton & Associates carry general, auto, products, personal and umbrella liability, as well as workers compensation and employer's liability coverage, but it diligently follows all the rules and regulations of the local, state and federal government with proper licensing and inspection.

ADDITIONALLY.....

Current Georgia Law requires local municipalities to issue temporary liquor licenses to off-premises caterers. Unless your event is happening in Marietta or Athens-Clarke County, the local municipalities have not passed the proper legislation to handle this state requirement. So if your party will not meet the requirements of the law and may be subject to closure. DON'T RISK HAVING YOUR PARTY SHUT DOWN BY OFFICIALS AS A RESULT OF IMPROPER LIQUOR LICENSING!!

A special message form the National Caterers' Association

WARNING: USING AN UNLICENSED CATERER MAY BE DANGEROUS TO YOUR HEALTH

An unlicensed, "at-home" caterer can indeed be dangerous. To both your physical and mental health. For instance, did you know...

...A licensed caterer must open his or her kitchen for inspection by local authorities at any time. And frequently. They must abide by rigid food and kitchen regulations, or be closed down. Unlicensed caterers never have their facilities inspected. Never. What does this mean to you, the customer? Simply, the food you're buying might come from extremely unsanitary conditions. It's not a pleasant thought, but before you hire an unlicensed caterer, think about it.

...A licensed caterer always carries insurance. All kinds of insurance. An unlicensed caterer usually has no insurance. if you use an unlicensed caterer and one or more of your guests become seriously ill as a result of the food, who's liable? You are. And if your're thinking that your guests would never sue you, better think again. It happens. All the time.

Think twice before you hire an unlicensed caterer. You might save a little, but you could lose much more.
